Computer Proficiency Certification Test or CPCT is an exam conducted in India for the recruitment of candidates in various government departments. It is a compulsory typing test exam for recruitment in various government departments where computer skills are required. This test is conducted twice a year which means a candidate can appear in this test after every 6 months. This test includes two portions. In the first portion, there is an objective type test while in the second portion, your typing abilities in English and Hindi languages are tested.

Eligibility Criteria for CPCT Exam

Senior Secondary Passed candidates with an age over 18 years can apply to appear in this test. Matric-passed students with Polytechnic diplomas are also eligible for appearing in this test.

Time Duration for CPCT Test

This test is conducted in two parts. Both parts are compulsory to attempt. The first one is the MCQs type test. 75 minutes are allowed to complete this MCQ portion of the test while the second portion is the test of your typing ability in Hindi & English language. Here you are allowed to type English & Hindi text. 15 minutes are allowed for typing text in each language.

Qualification criteria

To pass this test and qualify for this exam, a candidate must have 50% marks (37.5 marks) in the objective portion of this test.

The formula for Calculating Typing Performance

The formulation for the calculation of your typing performance includes:

  • GW (Gross Words)         =      Sum of correct & incorrect words (correct + incorrect words)
  • GWPM (Gross Words Per Minute) =  Gross Words / Time in Minutes
  • NWPM (Net Words Per Minute)   =   NW / Time in minutes
  • Accuracy %age = Net Words Per Minute X 100 / Gross Words Per Minute
